The vehicle will be used by the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service to help students on its Young Firefighters course.
The MAXUS fire engine features most things that a full size vehicle would. The crew cab seats five people and has space for breathing apparatus and the vehicle carries two ladders – triple extension and a light-weight double.
Martin Hoole, the service’s Youth Training Officer, runs the scheme. He said: “Our firefighters’ scheme has been so successful that we decided to search for a dedicated vehicle which is more suitable for younger people. F&G Commercials has supported us throughout this process and produced a vehicle that is completely fit for purpose.”
Kevin Staley, F&G Commercial’s van sales specialist, handed over the new vehicle. He said: “The young firefighters course is helping people across our region and we hope more fire stations introduce the course.”
