The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association Forces Help (SSAFA) has received a 15 seat wheelchair accessible MAXUS minibus as part of an LDV sponsorship scheme, to transport wounded personnel and families upon return to the
SSAFA is a national charity committed to supporting servicemen and women, including those injured in conflict. The charity provides a caring and trusted service through its professionally trained team and network of 7,000 volunteers to more than 50,000 people each year.
Upon their return from operations, badly injured service personnel are taken to the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine based at
SSAFA Forces Help’s director of services support, Liz Sheldon, said: “We are absolutely delighted that LDV is helping to support our injured personnel and their relatives. The minibus will provide much needed assistance to the families at what can be a very difficult time.”
John Ball, LDV’s direct supply fleet manager added: “SSAFA provides such a valuable service to our Armed Forces. We are more than happy to donate our MAXUS wheelchair accessible 15 seat minibus so that they can continue their good work.”
LDV presently supplies the MOD with MAXUS Bi-purpose vehicles of six and nine seat derivatives under the White Fleet Contract.
