Question:

we are a high mileage operator - is there an element of unlimited mileage warranty eg like vw 1st 2 years is unlimited, 3rd year warranty still applies if less than 100,000 on clock??

Answer:

The warranty is not unlimited. The warranty terms are 4 Years / 60,000 miles (whichever is the sooner) or 3 Years / 100,000 miles (whichever is the sooner) Should a part of the vehicle which is covered by this warranty require repair or replacement as a result of a manufacturing defect or a defect in material during the applicable warranty period or mileage. The part will be repaired or replaced completely free-of-charge by your authorised LDV Dealer, regardless of any change of ownership during the period covered. Any part so repaired or replaced will benefit from these arrangements for the balance of the warranty period applicable to the vehicle. The applicable warranty period or mileage is calculated from the date on which the vehicle was registered or handed over to the first owner (whichever is the sooner) and is subject to the exclusions listed under the heading “Exclusions”. The above information is available in the MAXUS Vehicle Handbook.

Question:

Who at LDV is in charge of ensuring the Maxus design is fully tested to meet its target durability for its current UK/EU market and for potential future markets e.g. Russia? Have you proven the design sign off test and validated it against the different usage profiles for those markets?

Answer:

Responsibility for all matters regarding the integrity of LDV MAXUS Product Engineering is James Billingham, LDV Quality and Technical Manager As part of the development of the LDV MAXUS vehicle, over 1.5 million miles of road and track based durability testing was conducted. This included cold weather testing in Scandinavia and hot testing in Spain. Track based testing was conducted at MIRA and Millbrook in the UK and Ideada in Spain. An Engineering programme is currently in its final stages to confirm the suitability of LDV MAXUS for use in Russia. This has entailed additional cold climate and altitude testing at MIRA and in the Austrian Alps respectively. Extensive road based testing in Russia has confirmed that the road load inputs from Russian roads are within those validated at the two UK test tracks.

Question:

Can the headlights on an LDV convoy 400 lwb minibus, Reg. 2000 "W", be adjusted for driving on the left hand side of the road??

Answer:

I presume you mean driving on the Right Hand Side of the road. If that's the case then the answer is NO. The headlamps on a UK spec mininbus cannot be adjusted as the focal direction is dictated by the lens - which is designed for driving on the left hand side of the road. If conversion is required a set of Left Hand drive (export spec) headlamps should be fitted instead. Please contact your local LDV dealer who can supply you with 'Export' headlamps for your LDV Convoy minibus.

Question:

How can I make my LDV (old Post Office Van) less noisy inside. Can I insulate the engine in anyway. I don't have the van insulated with wood (which I think a lot of vehicles have) but I have carpet on the floor. But any suggestions would be apprecaited because if you have a passinger you can't hear them if they speak to you.

Answer:

It is worth checking to see if there is any insulation fitted to the engine bay - if not then we would suggest fitting sound deadening pads. Please contact your local LDV dealer who will be able to source these pads for you.

Question:

What is the trade name for a LDV van with a front power door, like the one James May drove on Top Gear. Whenever I search 'LDV van with front power door' all I get is 'minibuses for sale'.

Answer:

At LDV we referred to it as a ‘plug door’. The majority of plug doors are fitted to accessible minibuses built at the LDV factory. Some conversion companies ordered the XL van with a plug door and then converted these into accessible minibuses or luxury minibuses. If you search for ‘plug door’, Google will return results on this van door. If you are looking for a new vehicle then please contact your local LDV dealer who will discuss your requirements in full and put the order through to our Special Vehicle Operations team who fit this feature on the production line in our factory.

Question:

Can you tell me why the newer version of the 17 seater Convoy is heavier. Can you give me the exact weight of the newer ones as I have an older onje saying 3.5T and a newer same model saying 3.8T. My driving licence only allows me to drive up to 3.5T.

Answer:

There was a change made a good few years back, where the gross weight of a LDV Convoy Minibus was upped to 3.85t. Prior to this all LDV Convoy's were plated at 3.5t. The reason the Gross Vehicle Weight of the LDV Convoy Minibus was upped was to ensure that the vehicle would not become overloaded when carrying adults. We have processed a number of individual requests to "downplate" a 3.85t LDV Convoy Minibus to 3.5t. This is usually when the minibus is being used to carry children for school runs or trips. If you wish to 'downplate' your LDV Convoy Minibus then you need to go to your local LDV Dealer - taking along with you proof of ownership (log book). You will then be required to complete a form requesting the 'downplating'. The dealer will remove your chassis plate (and give you a receipt for this) and send it to LDV who will destroy your old chassis plate and send a new one to the dealer on your behalf. The dealer will then re-fit it to your LDV Convoy Minibus.

Question:

Is the new LDV MAXUS LWB HR Van bigger or smaller than than a 2000 LDV Convoy hiloader?

Answer:

The LDV MAXUS LWB XHR Van is comparable in size to the Convoy Hi-Loader Van but with greater load accessibility. The LDV MAXUS LWB XHR Van is slightly longer, a few millimeters narrower and a few millimeters lower than the Convoy van, but the interior body cube remains the same. The access to the same load space is improved in the LDV MAXUS Van, with wider door apertures and higher door heights - making the LDV MAXUS Van load space easier to use that the old Convoy Van.
